Maggie Snyder is Professor of Viola at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music, Artist-Faculty member at the Brevard Music Festival, and Principal Violist of the Chamber Orchestra of New York. Winners of calls for scores in 2019 and 2020 are Virginia Samuel and Kirsten Volness, both of whom are included on the 2023 release on Arabesque Records titled Womens Writes. A new 2023/24 Call for Scores, along with a new set of commissions was announced for the latest recording/commissioning project Womens Works: Past Present and Future. The resulting recording will feature forgotten works by women, new commissions by Mary Kouyoumdjian (And a Cry Came from the People for Viola and Piano) and Tessa Lark (Variations on a Moment,Chaconne for solo viola), and the open call for scores with winner Sakari Dixon Vanderveer and her Bagatelles: Prelude arranged for viola solo.
